Navigating complex demolitions

At Yakka, we thrive on challenges. The SH16 Motorway Bridges project exemplifies our capability to execute hard demolition for critical infrastructure in Auckland, New Zealand. By removing two vital bridges, we paved the way for motorway widening and new bus lanes, demonstrating our commitment to efficient, impactful solutions.

Strategic solutions for public infrastructure

Yakka delivered an innovative solution, enabling the removal of both SH16 bridges over just a two-night process. Our expert team and specialised equipment ensured this complex, time-sensitive project on a major public roadway was executed flawlessly, minimising disruption and maximising efficiency for Auckland's infrastructure development.

Precision execution, uninterrupted flow

During a critical 12-hour night shift, Yakka expertly managed the removal of crash barriers and the installation of temporary motorway protections. We demolished two bridges simultaneously, removed protective measures, and then reinstalled the barriers—all according to our precise plan. This remarkable achievement showcases our commitment to meticulous planning and skilled execution. Notably, we demonstrated precision in the demolition of the old Royal Road bridge, which was taken down within 300mm of the two newly constructed bridges, all without incident and on schedule.
