Carrington campus: A legacy deconstructed, a future built

Discover Yakka's extensive work at the Carrington Campus, a significant project involving comprehensive deconstruction, demolition, and sustainable salvage practices to pave the way for a new beginning with our Iwi partners.

Multi-faceted transformation at carrington

The Carrington Campus project was a complex undertaking, encompassing asbestos removal, meticulous deconstruction, valuable salvage, and the controlled demolition of eleven distinct buildings. These ranged from single-storey timber structures to four-storey concrete office complexes, all executed for a local Iwi client embarking on a significant redevelopment of the land.

Sustainable deconstruction and community impact

Sustainability and community benefit were paramount at Carrington. Our team prioritised salvage, leading to the donation of four forty-foot containers of office furnishings to the Pacific Islands. Furthermore, older buildings were carefully deconstructed, with materials redirected to the Iwi for reuse and native timbers set aside for traditional Māori carvings, preserving valuable resources and cultural heritage.

Expertise in managing complex, multi-building sites

Yakka's involvement in the Carrington Campus project showcases our proven capability in planning and managing multi-building operations across expansive sites. Our experience spans from straightforward single-level demolitions to intricate full deconstruction projects and high-reach demolition, ensuring safe, efficient, and successful outcomes for complex developments.
